What Pictory is good at
It helps to be clear about this first, because most people searching for a Pictory alternative still need most of what Pictory does.
Pictory is a script-to-video and editing platform. You paste a script or a URL, upload a PDF, a PowerPoint deck or a recording, and it breaks the text into scenes, matches each scene to stock clips, adds an AI voice and generates subtitles. You can then edit the video by editing the text, apply a brand kit and export in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1. Plans include voices from ElevenLabs, stock avatars, and on Professional, custom avatars and voice cloning.
That makes it a strong fit for training teams, course creators and content marketers who already have words and need a watchable video from them quickly. None of that is something VideoMake does. If that is your job, compare Pictory with other script-to-video editors, not with a clip generator.
Where buyers get stuck is the footage itself. A stock library, however large, can only show scenes someone already filmed. On yearly billing Pictory grants the full year of minutes up front. Generated footage is the small part of each plan: Pictory estimates that the 100 monthly AI credits on Starter cover about one minute of generated video.

Watch your draft and mark the scenes where the stock clip is only loosely related to the words, or where you have seen the same clip elsewhere. These are the only scenes worth replacing.
