The short answer
Animoto costs $9, $19 or $39 a month billed yearly (Basic, Professional, Professional Plus), or $19, $29 and $79 billed monthly. A year costs $108, $228 or $468 on annual billing. For business use the real entry price is Professional at $19 a month, because Animoto licenses Free and Basic videos for personal use only, and agencies selling videos to companies need Professional Plus at $39.

Professional also adds your logo and colors, voice over, customizable video landing pages, combined screen and webcam recording, multiple songs per video, 3 saved templates and 1 saved brand. Professional Plus adds 10 saved brands, 25 saved templates, custom fonts, time stamped comments, a shared team workspace, user roles, a dedicated account manager and onboarding. Projects on every plan can run up to 50 minutes. Animoto offers discounts to registered non-profits, teachers and schools on request.

Which Animoto plan a business actually has to buy
Basic at $9 a month looks like the small business plan. It removes the watermark and exports at 1080p. But Animoto's help center is explicit that videos made on Free and Basic are for personal use, with a birthday party video as its example. A promo for your own store, a product video on your site or an ad on Meta is not that.
Professional is the first tier with reseller licensing, and it also carries the 3,000 commercially licensed songs and the Getty Images library. Without those, a business video on Basic is limited to about 50 royalty free tracks and a small stock set, which is where most of the finished look comes from.
The second line sits between Professional and Professional Plus. Professional lets you sell a video to someone who uses it personally, like a photographer delivering a wedding slideshow. If the buyer is a company that will use the video to make money, an ad, a listing video, a brand promo, Animoto requires Professional Plus. That makes $39 a month billed yearly the real entry price for freelancers and agencies.
Questions to settle before you pay
- Is the video for a business, even your own? Then skip Basic.
- Are you making videos for clients who run them as ads or promos? That is Professional Plus.
- Do you have your own photos and footage, or will you rely on stock?
- How many people edit? Two or three editors are cheaper on Professional Plus than on separate seats.

If you have a folder of product photos, listing shots or event footage, Animoto Professional is the cheaper and more complete tool. It turns that folder into a finished, branded video with music and text, and we would tell you to buy it.
Where it runs out is the shot you never filmed. A slow push across a kitchen counter at golden hour, a vertical hook for a paid social ad, a product floating on a clean backdrop you do not own. How much does Animoto cost?
Billed yearly, Animoto Basic is $9 a month, Professional is $19 a month and Professional Plus is $39 a month. Billed month to month the same plans cost $19, $29 and $79. Over a year that is $108, $228 or $468 on annual billing, against $228, $348 or $948 paying monthly.
How much does Animoto cost per year?
On annual billing Animoto costs $108 a year for Basic, $228 for Professional and $468 for Professional Plus. Animoto's own pricing page lists the saving against monthly billing as $120 a year on Basic and Professional and $480 a year on Professional Plus, which is where the up to 50% figure comes from.
Can I use Animoto Basic for my business?
Not safely. Animoto's help center says videos made on the Free and Basic plans are for personal use. Professional adds a reseller license to sell a video to an end user for their personal use, and only Professional Plus lets you sell videos to buyers who use them to earn a profit, such as a company running ads.
Is Animoto free?
Animoto has a free plan with unlimited video creation, but every video carries a Made with Animoto watermark, exports top out at 720p, and the music library is limited to about 50 tracks. It has no free trial of paid features. To test them Animoto suggests buying one month and turning off auto renewal.
Does Animoto have a monthly plan?
Yes. Every paid Animoto plan can be bought monthly: Basic at $19, Professional at $29 and Professional Plus at $79 a month. Subscriptions renew automatically, so to buy a single month you turn off auto renewal on the billing page. You can cancel up to the day before renewal and the plan runs to the end of the period.
What happens to my Animoto videos if I cancel?
Your account reverts to the free plan and you keep full rights to videos you already made. Videos stay in the account for viewing and sharing, but paid features switch off. Animoto warns that videos in inactive free accounts may be deleted after an extended period, so download anything important before you cancel.
Does Animoto generate AI video?
Not in the sense of rendering new footage. Animoto's AI video creator writes a script and assembles a video from photos and clips you upload, or from the images and text on a web page you paste in. Its own AI page says it does not invent people, places and things. You need your own media or its stock library.
Is Animoto worth the money?
For a small business with its own photos and clips, Professional at $228 a year is good value: 4K, a large licensed stock library and brand controls in a simple editor. It is weak value if you have no media to start from, because every video then leans on the same stock other advertisers use.
