The short answer

Powtoon costs $15, $40 or $125 a month per user billed yearly (Lite, Professional, Advanced), or $49, $99 and $199 billed monthly. The annual plans are 37% to 69% cheaper, but they include 300, 500 or 1,200 AI credits for the whole year, while the monthly plans include 150, 350 or 800 credits every month. Extra credits cost $49 for 125, $99 for 300 or $149 for 450.

Powtoon pricing plans compared

Three paid individual tiers plus a free tier. What separates them is how many clean exports you get, how long a video can run, which assets you can use, and who is licensed to use the result.

Powtoon cost per year: annual vs monthly billing

Most Powtoon price lists stop at the monthly equivalent. The number that changes the decision is the AI credit allowance, because it is not scaled to the billing period. Annual plans grant one yearly pool, monthly plans grant a fresh pool every month.

Plan Annual billing, 12 months AI credits in that year Monthly billing, 12 months AI credits in that year
Lite$180300$5881,800 (150 a month)
Professional$480500$1,1884,200 (350 a month)
Advanced$1,5001,200$2,3889,600 (800 a month)

Professional, annual

$708 a year saved

Against paying $99 a month, with 3,700 fewer AI credits over the year.

Buying those credits back

about $1,220

3,700 credits at the $99 for 300 pack rate, 33 cents a credit. More than the $708 the annual plan saved.

The rule of thumb

Light AI use: yearly

If you animate by hand and touch AI now and then, annual wins easily. If AI clips, voices or avatars are weekly work, price the monthly plan too.

What Powtoon AI credits buy in Veo 3 clip seconds

Credits are shared across every AI feature: Anything to Video, Nano Banana images, Veo 3 clips, ElevenLabs voiceover, HeyGen avatars, translation and dubbing. Clip generation is the most expensive of them, so it is the fairest way to see how far a plan goes. Powtoon's help center lists Veo 3 at 3 credits per second without audio and 5 with audio, up to 8 seconds per clip.

Credit source Credits Silent Veo 3 seconds Veo 3 seconds with audio
Lite, yearly (whole year)300100 seconds, about 12 eight second clips60 seconds, 7 clips
Professional, yearly (whole year)500166 seconds, about 20 clips100 seconds, 12 clips
Advanced, yearly (whole year)1,200400 seconds, 50 clips240 seconds, 30 clips
Lite, monthly (per month)15050 seconds, 6 clips30 seconds, 3 clips
Professional, monthly (per month)350116 seconds, 14 clips70 seconds, 8 clips
Advanced, monthly (per month)800266 seconds, 33 clips160 seconds, 20 clips
Credit pack, $99300100 seconds, about $0.99 a second60 seconds, about $1.65 a second

Every generation draws credits, including the attempts you throw away. Budget two or three tries per usable shot, which cuts the clip counts above by half or more. Credit pack purchases are final and non-refundable.

Where the Powtoon bill ends up higher than the headline price

Lite at $15 a month reads like the entry plan for a small business. Look at the export line: the watermark comes off only 5 exports a month. A marketer who revises a video three times before approval has used most of the month on one project. Anyone publishing weekly is really shopping for Professional at $40.

The second trigger is premium content. Lite does not unlock premium templates, scenes, animations or the stock footage, images and audio library. Those live on Professional and up, and they are most of what makes a Powtoon video look finished rather than homemade.

The third is AI. Powtoon now sells itself as an AI video platform, but a yearly Professional seat carries 500 credits for twelve months. That covers a couple of voiceovers and a handful of generated clips, then you are buying packs at 33 to 39 cents a credit.

The fourth is licensing. Only Advanced includes third-party reseller rights, so an agency or freelancer producing videos for clients is looking at $125 a month billed yearly, not $40.

Questions to settle before you pay

  • How many finished, watermark free exports do you need a month, counting revisions?
  • Will you use premium templates and stock, or build from basics?
  • How many AI clips, voiceovers or avatar scenes a month? That decides yearly vs monthly.
  • Are any videos for clients? Reseller rights sit on Advanced only.
  • More than one editor? Ask sales for a Teams quote rather than stacking individual plans.

Which Powtoon plan to buy

Lite, $15 a month yearly

A few videos a month, basic look

A consultant, teacher or small business owner who needs a commercial license and publishes one or two short explainers a month. Stay here only while five clean exports cover you.

Professional, $40 a month yearly

The default business plan

Marketing, HR and training staff producing animated explainers every week. Unlimited exports and the premium library are why it exists. Pick monthly billing instead if AI features are part of every project.

Advanced, $125 a month yearly

Agencies and branded characters

Agencies and freelancers selling videos to clients, or brands that need custom characters with lip sync, their own fonts and full brand control. Reseller rights alone justify it for client work.

Powtoon pricing next to a dedicated clip generator

Some buyers land on Powtoon because it now advertises AI clip generation. If generated footage is the main thing you want, and the animation editor is a side benefit, this is the comparison to make.

Best forAnimated explainers, HR updates, slide style and training videosProduct shots, b-roll, ad openers and vertical social clips

On raw rate per generated second the two land in the same range, so do not pick either on price alone. Powtoon is cheaper to start and bundles a whole animation studio. If your job is a five minute animated onboarding video with characters and a narrator, buy Powtoon Professional and skip us.

If the job is a steady supply of realistic shots, a product rotating on a counter, a drone style pass over a neighborhood, a vertical opener for a paid social ad, the annual Powtoon plans run out of credits within weeks, and you are paying for an editor you do not open. A clip generator puts the whole plan into footage. Our AI b-roll generator and image to video generator show the output to expect. Plenty of teams run both: Powtoon for the explainer, generated clips for the realistic cutaways inside it.

Questions people ask about Powtoon pricing

How much does Powtoon cost per month?

Billed yearly, Powtoon Lite is $15 a month, Professional is $40 a month and Advanced is $125 a month. Billed month to month, the same plans cost $49, $99 and $199. Education is $8 a month billed yearly, and Teams and Enterprise plans are quoted by Powtoon sales.

How much does Powtoon cost per year?

On annual billing one Powtoon user pays $180 a year for Lite, $480 for Professional and $1,500 for Advanced. Paying monthly for twelve months costs $588, $1,188 and $2,388 instead, so annual billing saves between 37% and 69%, but it also comes with a much smaller AI credit allowance.

Is Powtoon free?

Powtoon has a free tier, but it exports at 720p, caps videos at 3 minutes, adds a Powtoon watermark, includes no AI credits and does not include commercial use rights. Any video used for marketing, sales or client work needs a paid plan, starting with Lite at $15 a month billed yearly.

What do Powtoon AI credits cost?

Paid plans include credits, and extra credits come in packs: 125 credits for $49, 300 for $99 and 450 for $149. Pack purchases are final and non-refundable. Powtoon's help center lists Veo 3 clip generation at 3 credits per second without audio and 5 with audio, so an 8 second clip with sound uses 40 credits.

What is the difference between Powtoon Lite and Professional?

Lite removes the watermark on only 5 exports a month and caps videos at 10 minutes. Professional gives unlimited premium exports, full access to premium templates, animations and stock media, 20 minute videos, 10GB storage and more AI credits. For any business publishing more than five videos a month, Lite is not a real option.

Is Powtoon worth the money?

It is for marketing, HR and training teams that build animated explainers, slide style videos and screen recordings every month, because Professional at $480 a year is cheap for an animation editor. It is weak value if you mainly want AI generated footage, because the annual plans include only 300 to 1,200 AI credits for the whole year.

Want the footage without the animation studio?

Type the scene or upload a product photo and get a 4, 8 or 12 second clip back in 16:9 or 9:16, cleared for commercial use, on a plan with a fixed monthly price.
