Starter is free but stops at 25 recordings of 5 minutes each. The number that surprises teams is the seat count: on Atlassian billing every workspace member is a paid Creator, so a 20 person workspace pays for 20 seats even if 4 people record.

Four plans. The jump that matters for most teams is Starter to Business, because it removes the recording caps. The jump from Business to Business + AI is about saving viewers' time, not about recording better.

Why Loom bills went up after the Atlassian move
Loom used to offer Creator Lite, a free role for people who recorded now and then on a paid workspace. Atlassian's support page for the billing integration says every Creator Lite user is upgraded to a full paid Creator on the workspace's integration date. New accounts created after February 2026 never get the role at all.
There is a grace period: no charge for the upgraded users until your next billing date. That is the window to remove members who only watch. Viewers who open a share link never need a seat, so the fix is usually to keep occasional viewers out of the workspace and send them links instead.
Worked example, 30 person team, 6 regular recorders
Before: 6 paid Business seats, about $1,080 a year billed yearly. After integration with everyone left in the workspace: 30 paid seats, about $5,400 a year. Removing the 24 watch-only members before the renewal date brings it back to $1,080.

AI is all seats or none
There is no AI add-on for a few users. Moving a 25 seat workspace from Business to Business + AI adds about $1,500 a year on yearly billing.
Discounts to ask about
Loom lists education and nonprofit programs on its pricing page. Larger teams usually get better per-seat rates inside a wider Atlassian agreement.

Which Loom plan to buy, by team
Sales and customer success
Business. Email to view tells you who watched a prospecting video, branding comes off, and recordings have no time cap. Add AI only if reps want video variables to personalize one recording for many prospects; that feature is Business + AI only.
Product and engineering
Business + AI if the team lives in Jira and Confluence. Turning a bug walkthrough into a Jira issue and getting chapters on long demos is where the extra $6 a seat earns its keep. Keep stakeholders who only watch out of the workspace.
Training and customer education

Loom pricing next to a scene generator
A sales demo or onboarding video often needs one shot that is not on a screen: the delivery arriving, the team using the product on a job site, a customer at a counter. Loom has no plan that renders that. A generator does, and the MP4 drops straight into the Loom video or whatever editor you trim it in.

Does Loom charge per user?

Yes. Loom paid plans are billed per user, and on workspaces moved to Atlassian billing every member is a paid Creator. The free Creator Lite role that let occasional recorders sit on a paid workspace at no cost is discontinued for new accounts and is being removed from existing ones as they migrate.
Do viewers need a paid Loom account?

AI is not sold as an add-on, so the upgrade applies to every seat in the workspace, not only the people who want it.
Does Loom have a free trial?

Yes. Loom offers a 14 day trial of Business + AI from the pricing page. When the trial ends without a purchase, the workspace falls back to Starter limits, so videos over 5 minutes and recordings past the 25 video cap need a paid plan to keep recording.
Can Loom create AI generated video?

No. Loom records your screen, camera and meetings, then uses AI for titles, summaries, chapters and cleanup. It does not render new footage from a prompt. A product demo that needs a real-world scene, such as a customer using the product, needs a separate video generator.
