Vyond vs HeyGen Pricing and Cost per Video Minute
One is an animation studio sold per seat by the year, the other is an avatar platform sold by the credit. They price the same minute of video very differently.
Cheapest paid seat, billed yearly
1 user, 100 downloads a month, 10,000 AI credits
1 seat, 600 credits a month, videos up to 30 minutes
Need a realistic scene that neither a cartoon nor an avatar gives you, like a product close up or a 4 to 8 second lip synced ad hook? The panel on the right renders it from a prompt or a photo.
The short answer
Vyond costs $699 a year for one Starter user and $1,199 per user on Professional. HeyGen Creator costs $288 a year. Buy Vyond for animated explainers and branching training scenarios built from characters and templates. Buy HeyGen for a realistic presenter reading a script: 600 credits buy about 19 minutes of Avatar IV, while Vyond's 10,000 credits buy under 3 minutes of avatar speech.
Vyond plans were read from vyond.com/pricing in October 2026 and its credit rates from the AI Credit System article in Vyond's help center, last updated October 13, 2026. HeyGen plans were read from heygen.com/pricing and credit rates from HeyGen's help center. All prices are in US dollars. Avatar minutes per plan are our arithmetic, assuming about 900 characters of script per spoken minute.

How many avatar minutes each plan buys
Vyond charges avatars by the character of script, HeyGen by the minute of video. Converted to the same unit, the difference is large. Vyond's rate below is for its HeyGen stock avatars, the cheaper of its two avatar providers.
Vyond Starter
about 2.8 min
10,000 credits a month
At 40 credits per 10 characters, a 900 character minute uses about 3,600 credits. The same credits also pay for premium voices, translation and Vyond Go.
Vyond Professional
about 5.5 min
20,000 credits a month
Double the pool for double the seat price. Tavus avatars, at 50 credits per 10 characters, cut this to about 4.4 minutes.
HeyGen Creator
about 19 min
600 credits a month
Avatar IV Video Look at 31 credits a minute. On the older Avatar III look, at 4 credits a minute, the same plan covers about 150 minutes.
55 min
That is roughly how much narrated animation Vyond Starter credits cover with its standard voices, at 2 credits per 10 characters, or about 11 minutes with its premium voices at 10. Animation itself does not use credits; downloads are capped at 100 a month instead. This is the honest case for Vyond: it is priced for cartoons with a voice, not for talking avatars.
Vyond vs HeyGen cost per year for one to five seats
Vyond Starter is a single user plan, so a team starts on Professional. HeyGen Business has a base price and a $20 extra seat, so the gap widens as the team grows. HeyGen figures use the $149 monthly list price shown on its pricing page.
| Seats | Vyond Professional, yearly | Vyond Enterprise, yearly | HeyGen Business |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $1,199 | $1,649 | $1,788 |
| 3 | $3,597 | $4,947 | $2,268 |
| 5 | $5,995 | $8,245 | $2,748 |
For a single user, Vyond Professional is cheaper than HeyGen Business, but that compares a Vyond mid tier with HeyGen's team tier; a solo buyer would pick HeyGen Creator at $288. At five seats with SCORM, HeyGen Business lists at $2,748 a year and Vyond Enterprise at $8,245 before any negotiated discount. Paying Vyond month to month raises Professional to $2,388 per user a year.
Six rules that decide the real bill
List prices only get you halfway. These come from each vendor's pricing page and help center.
Vyond caps downloads, not animation
Starter allows 100 video downloads per user a month and Professional 200. Animating scenes uses no credits, so a busy editor runs into the download cap long before the credit pool.
Vyond credits reset on the 1st
Credits reset on the 1st of every month at midnight UTC and nothing rolls over. HeyGen studio credits survive one extra billing cycle.
Avatars inside Vyond are metered hard
HeyGen stock avatars in Vyond use 40 credits per 10 characters and Tavus avatars 50. Syncing an avatar to uploaded audio costs 1,600 to 2,000 credits for the first 30 seconds.
Vyond Go costs 800 credits a video
Turning a prompt, document or URL into a draft animation uses 800 credits per generation, so Starter allows about 12 drafts a month if nothing else spends credits.
SCORM sits on different tiers
HeyGen exports SCORM from Business at $149 a month. Vyond marks SCORM Export on Enterprise and Agency, priced per user by the year.
Generated clips only on Vyond's top plans
Vyond's Text to Video Clip, which uses third party generation models at 2,500 to 4,000 credits per clip of 4 or 5 seconds, is listed only on Enterprise and Agency.
Vyond or HeyGen by the job you are buying for
Compliance or soft skills training with scenarios
Vyond Professional
Cartoon characters acting out a workplace scene, with branching and templates, is exactly what Vyond is built for, and it does not burn credits on animation.
Onboarding and product updates with a human face
HeyGen Creator or Pro
A realistic presenter reading a script in many languages at $24 to $49 a month, about 19 minutes of Avatar IV on Creator.
L&D team that must publish SCORM into an LMS
HeyGen Business
SCORM, LMS integrations and SAML SSO from $149 a month plus $20 a seat, against Vyond Enterprise at $1,649 per user a year.
Agency producing animated explainers for clients
Vyond Agency
400,000 credits per user, unlimited downloads in practice and 90 minute videos at $1,999 per user a year.

Where a clip generator fits next to Vyond or HeyGen
Cartoons and avatars cover most training. What they do not cover is the realistic shot: the actual warehouse, the product on a table, a short vertical opener for an ad. Here is the honest split.
| Vyond or HeyGen | VideoMake | |
|---|---|---|
| A 10 minute lesson or explainer | Yes, animated on Vyond or presented on HeyGen | No. Clips are 4, 8 or 12 seconds |
| A realistic scene, product or place | Only on Vyond Enterprise and Agency, or from HeyGen credits | Yes, from a prompt or a photo, on every plan |
| Short lip synced hook for an ad | HeyGen yes, Vyond through metered avatars | Yes, 15 stock presenters or your own from a photo with consent |
| Cost | $288 to $1,999 a year per seat | About $1 per second of 720p on Plus at $49 a month |
If the deliverable is a full lesson, buy Vyond or HeyGen; per minute they cost far less than we do. VideoMake earns its place when that lesson or campaign needs a few seconds of realistic footage neither tool films. Studio on every plan then upscales, captions, adds a voiceover and joins the clips, and the REST API renders them in batches. Questions people ask about Vyond vs HeyGen
Is Vyond better than HeyGen?
Vyond is better for animated explainers and scenario based training with cartoon characters, props and scene templates. HeyGen is better for a realistic presenter reading a script, in many languages, at a far lower entry price. The two overlap less than the search suggests: Vyond even licenses HeyGen stock avatars for its own AI Avatar feature.
Which is cheaper, Vyond or HeyGen?
HeyGen, by a wide margin at entry level. HeyGen Creator costs $288 a year billed yearly, while Vyond Starter costs $699 a year for one user. For a team, the gap narrows: five Vyond Professional seats list at $5,995 a year against $2,748 for HeyGen Business with five seats at the monthly list price.
Is Vyond worth it?
Vyond is worth it for a team that ships animated training or explainer videos every month, because its character library, lip synced cartoon dialogue and templates replace an animation freelancer. It is poor value if you mainly want talking avatars: 10,000 Starter credits buy under 3 minutes of avatar speech, where $24 a month at HeyGen buys about 19 minutes.
Why is Vyond so expensive?
Vyond is sold per user on yearly contracts, starting at $699 a year for one Starter seat and $1,199 per user for Professional, and it bundles a large animation asset library, 1080p export and enterprise features such as SSO and SCORM on its top plans. Monthly billing costs even more: $99 a month for Starter and $199 per user for Professional.
Does Vyond have AI avatars?
Yes. Vyond lists AI Avatars on every plan, priced in credits: 40 credits per 10 characters for HeyGen stock avatars and 50 per 10 characters for Tavus avatars, according to Vyond's own credit table. A minute of speech is roughly 900 characters, so one avatar minute uses about 3,600 to 4,500 of a Starter plan's 10,000 monthly credits.
Which one exports SCORM, Vyond or HeyGen?
HeyGen exports SCORM from its Business plan at $149 a month plus $20 per extra seat. Vyond's comparison table marks SCORM Export for Enterprise and Agency, at $1,649 and $1,999 per user a year, though its file download row lists SCORM on every plan. Ask Vyond sales to confirm before buying Starter or Professional for an LMS.
Do Vyond and HeyGen credits roll over?
Vyond credits do not roll over. They reset on the 1st of every month at midnight UTC, so unused credits are lost. HeyGen studio credits survive one extra billing cycle before they expire, which lets a quiet month carry into the next one.
Does Vyond have a free trial?
Vyond offers a free trial from its pricing page, without publishing the length or limits there. HeyGen has a permanent Free plan instead, capped at 3 videos a month of up to 1 minute each and watermarked, so commercial work starts on Creator at $29 a month or $24 billed yearly.
