For a corporate training team, Colossyan is the cheaper way to get SCORM: Professional costs $59 a month billed yearly plus $30 per extra editor and includes 5 SCORM exports a month, so three editors pay $1,428 a year. HeyGen only exports SCORM on Business, at $149 a month plus $20 per extra seat, which is $2,268 a year for three people. HeyGen pays that back if you produce a lot of minutes on its older avatar model, single sign on is a requirement, or videos run past 50 minutes.

HeyGen figures below come from heygen.com/pricing and HeyGen's help center credit table. Colossyan figures come from colossyan.com/pricing and its pricing FAQ. Both were read in October 2026 and all prices are in US dollars. The cost per minute numbers are our arithmetic from those pages, because neither vendor publishes them.

HeyGen vs Colossyan pricing for a training team

The plans worth comparing are not the cheapest ones. HeyGen Creator at $29 a month has no SCORM export and one seat, and Colossyan Starter is free but watermarked with no SCORM at all. A team that has to publish into an LMS is choosing between these two:

HeyGen BusinessColossyan Professional
Price$149 a month, plus $20 per extra seat$59 a month billed yearly, plus $30 per extra editor
Seats1 included, add more1 included, up to 3 in total
Allowance1,500 credits a month30 NEO minutes and 10 NEO2 minutes a month

Longest video60 minutes30 minutes on monthly billing, 50 on yearly
Single sign onSAML SSO includedEnterprise only
Export resolutionUp to 4KUp to 1080p (4K on Enterprise)

Colossyan's Professional plan is listed only on yearly billing. A fourth editor forces a move to Enterprise, which is a sales quote, so a team that expects to grow past three should get that quote before signing.

What a training team pays a year on HeyGen or Colossyan

EditorsHeyGen BusinessColossyan Professional, yearly
1$1,788$708
2$2,028$1,068
3$2,268$1,428
5$2,748Enterprise quote

HeyGen totals are twelve monthly payments at $149 plus $20 per seat beyond the first. HeyGen's pricing page does not list a yearly price for Business, so treat the HeyGen column as a ceiling and ask sales about annual terms. Colossyan totals use its published yearly price.

Cost per finished training minute on HeyGen and Colossyan

This is where the comparison flips depending on which avatar you can live with. HeyGen sells credits that each avatar model burns at a different rate. At $149 for 1,500 credits, a Business credit costs about 9.9 cents. Colossyan sells minutes in two buckets, NEO for the standard avatar and NEO2 for the newer, more realistic one.

Avatar modelRateMinutes a monthCost per finished minute
HeyGen Avatar III, Video Look4 credits a minute375about $0.40
HeyGen Avatar IV, Photo Look16 credits a minute93about $1.59
HeyGen Avatar IV, Video Look31 credits a minute48about $3.08
HeyGen Avatar V48 credits a minute31about $4.77
Colossyan NEOincluded minutes30about $1.97
Colossyan NEO2included minutes10about $5.90
Colossyan, both buckets used40about $1.48

Read it this way. If your learners will accept HeyGen's older Avatar III, Business produces about 375 minutes a month for roughly 40 cents each, and nothing on Colossyan's public price list comes close for a high volume library. If you want the newest, most lifelike presenter on every lesson, both vendors cost $3 to $6 a minute, and Colossyan's lower plan price wins for a team making under 40 minutes a month. For the plan by plan detail behind these numbers, see our HeyGen pricing and credit breakdown and Colossyan pricing per editor and minute.

Is Colossyan better than HeyGen for training?

For most small L&D teams, yes. Colossyan is built around courses rather than single videos: SCORM export, interactive videos and document to video are in the plan a three person team can buy without a sales call, at roughly half HeyGen's yearly cost. HeyGen is the better choice when single sign on is mandatory, when videos exceed 50 minutes, or when volume makes its Avatar III rate pay off.

There is one more structural difference. Colossyan front loads the whole year's minutes on yearly plans, so a team with one big launch per quarter can spend most of the allowance at once. HeyGen's studio credits survive one extra billing cycle and then expire, which smooths an uneven month but not an uneven year.

Does HeyGen have SCORM export?

Yes, but only on Business and Enterprise. HeyGen lists SCORM export and LMS integrations among the Business features at $149 a month plus $20 per extra seat. Creator and Pro do not include it, so a training team that needs to track completions in an LMS should skip those plans and compare Business directly with Colossyan Professional.

Which is cheaper for translating training videos?

Usually HeyGen. Its precision video translation costs 10 credits a minute, about 99 cents on Business, and it is billed separately from the original video. Colossyan counts every language version as a new generated video against the same allowance, so a 10 minute module in English, Spanish and French consumes 30 of Professional's 40 monthly minutes. If your compliance content ships in three languages, divide Colossyan's effective minutes by three before you compare.

Hidden costs to budget before you sign

  • Regenerations. Both vendors charge for every generation. Colossyan's FAQ is explicit that deleting a generated video does not return its minutes, although drafts are free. On HeyGen a re-render costs the same credits as the first one.
  • Unused allowance. Colossyan minutes do not roll over at the end of a billing period. HeyGen credits get one extra cycle.
  • Studio avatars. A filmed custom avatar on Colossyan is a $1,000 a year add on. Plan for a similar line item on any vendor if you want your own trainer on screen.
  • The source material. Most training videos start life as a policy PDF or a slide deck. Teams that already turn reports and Word documents into presentation slides automatically can paste those slides straight into either tool's document to video flow instead of rewriting scripts by hand.

Where VideoMake fits in a training stack

Neither HeyGen nor Colossyan films the world around the presenter: the warehouse aisle in a forklift safety module, the clinic front desk in a HIPAA refresher, the product close up in a sales enablement course. That is what VideoMake does. Describe the scene or upload a photo, choose 16:9 or 9:16 and 4, 8 or 12 seconds, and download an original clip with commercial rights to drop between avatar segments. It also renders short lip synced AI presenter clips of 4 or 8 seconds for a course trailer or an onboarding hook.

Be clear about the trade. For a presenter reading a 10 minute lesson, HeyGen or Colossyan is far cheaper per minute than we are, at about $1 per second of 720p video on our Plus plan. VideoMake earns its place on the shots an avatar platform cannot make. If you are still choosing among avatar vendors, our HeyGen vs D-ID pricing comparison and HeyGen vs Synthesia comparison apply the same cost per minute method, and the Colossyan alternative guide covers who else sells SCORM ready avatar video.
